More About James
James Watson is an operating partner on the Bio + Health team, leading the firm’s Business and Corporate Development team in life sciences. His team plays an important role in furthering the success of our bio portfolio companies in the strategy and execution of their strategic partnership and capital raising activities.
Prior to joining Andreessen Horowitz, he held Chief Business Officer, President, or financial leadership roles with a number of venture backed biotech companies, most recently Carmot Therapeutics in Berkeley. Previously, he spent nearly 9 years in a boutique investment bank and as CEO providing strategic advisory and financing services to Life Science clients. Prior to banking, he built and led a management consulting practice. He began his career with Eli Lilly & Company holding various new product development and commercial roles in the US and Europe.
James obtained an MBA and Fulbright Scholarship from Indiana University. James is a native of London, England and now enjoys skiing and mountain biking from his base in Northern California.
