Investing in HappyRobot

Anish Acharya, Seema Amble, and Olivia Moore Posted December 4, 2024

Logistics is the backbone of modern global commerce — but it’s shockingly manual and low tech. Today, brokers and carriers run their businesses across a patchwork of phone calls, texts, emails, and outdated software solutions. Much of this information transfer is repetitive and confirmatory, but still done manually, with humans on both sides of the conversation.

For already low-margin businesses, this patchwork is both costly and inefficient, with companies spending hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on offshore staff to manage the transactions and manually schedule. Business process outsourcing (BPO) for the logistics industry is an estimated $26B market, and growing annually.

Enter HappyRobot, which is reinventing communication for freight, starting with AI-powered phone calls. HappyRobot is working with some of the largest global players in freight and has powered hundreds of thousands of calls over the past year. Customers are using HappyRobot today for both inbound and outbound calls, including load updates, check calls, and carrier sales negotiations.

With HappyRobot, all calls can be answered instantly (and around the clock!) by a knowledgeable rep who is directly connected to existing data systems. Customers can build unique workflows within the platform that trigger automations post-call. The agents have memory to recall and act on prior conversation history with each caller, and can live transfer calls to a human if needed.

The benefits are clear. Brokers are able to answer calls in a timely, consistent manner while freeing up their employees for higher-value tasks. Customers are able to complete their calls in one-third the time of typical calls, on average.

Alongside saving time for brokers, customers no longer have to wait on hold. These agents are truly humanlike (or better!) in their execution and sound, running on HappyRobot’s own models trained for logistics calls. If you’re not convinced, check out one of their demos here

We’re excited to partner with HappyRobot alongside freight experts — including RyderVentures, Andrew Berberick, Tobenna Arodiogbu, Jin Shieh, Jett McCandless, Dan Lewis, and George Ezenna — as well as angel investors Gokul Rajaram, Carles Reina, Bram Sugarman, Nicholas Hinrichsen, Chris Coleman, and Andrew Berman.

The HappyRobot team is passionate about solving problems for the logistics industry. Cofounders Pablo Palafox, Javier Palafox, and Luis Paarup have been longtime friends and collaborators. Javier previously managed logistics for Deoleo’s North American market, while Pablo and Luis are both engineers and former researchers in AI and automation.

We’re thrilled to announce we are leading HappyRobot’s Series A. Check out their website to learn more.
