Investing in Phaze

Martin Casado Posted November 4, 2026

A major lesson in getting productivity out of agents over the last few years has been to give them computers and applications like you would a human. This wasn’t obvious at first, and we as an industry tried to create agent APIs and other abstraction layers. But the reality is that AI models want to act more like humans, not less. And so the best thing to do is just give them a full desktop, a full browser and a full app and let them go to work.

Now, that can be pragmatically tough, because often apps are operating system specific (e.g. Windows) or have specific hardware requirements. So the most sophisticated users allow their agents to connect to apps and operating systems remotely. Phaze enables that remote access.

Phaze is a high-performance remote desktop solution for giving humans and agents a local-like experience on remote workstations. What sets Phaze apart is multi-fold. For one, it’s the best solution for interactive, latency-sensitive workloads. So if you want to give your agent access to Blender or Unreal Studio, Phaze is the way to do that. But it was also designed from the ground up for working with agents, which makes compatibility, management and administration seamless.

It’s not a surprise Phaze is as good as it is given the team behind it. In fact, this is their second time building an industry-leading remote desktop solution. Benjy Boxer and Chris Dickson, the founders of Phaze, previously built Parsec, which at the time was the leading remote desktop solution for graphics-intensive applications. We were investors in Parsec and sat on the board through its acquisition by Unity.

So I’m very excited to be working with this team again to bring desktops and applications to agents. And of course to humans too.
