Heather F. Horniak is Chief of Staff, Global Affairs at a16z, where she serves as a strategic and operational partner to Anne Neuberger, General Partner and Head of Global Affairs.
Prior to joining a16z, Heather was Head of Global Public Sector Communications at Scale AI, where she built and led the company's first public sector communications function. Before that, she spent more than 15 years at the Central Intelligence Agency, serving globally as a Middle East analyst, an intelligence briefer at the White House, and as the CIA's media spokesperson.
Heather holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She lives in Washington, DC.
