More About Matt
Matt is an operating partner and serves as chief of staff at Andreessen Horowitz.
Prior to joining a16z, Matt served as a managing director at Makena Capital where he worked directly with the CEO and led several strategic initiatives for the firm. He has also worked at Janus Capital where he ran private client and institutional sales in the Bay Area across equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
Matt started his career as an F/A-18 fighter pilot in the US Marine Corps. He flew out of
Miramar and deployed to locations in the Middle East and Far East. He is a graduate of the Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and a former US Navy Blue Angels pilot.
Matt graduated with a bachelor of science in accounting from the University of Illinois and from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In his free time he enjoys golfing, biking, and spending time with his family.
