More About Zak
Zak Doric, PhD, is an investing partner on the Bio + Health team, focused on biotechnology companies.
Prior to joining Andreessen Horowitz, he completed the Fellowship program at Flagship Pioneering, where he created venture hypotheses for new biotech company creation efforts. Zak holds a PhD in neuroscience from University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he was a Hillblom Graduate Fellow. His research focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms responsible for causing familial forms of Parkinson’s disease. His work has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications, including articles in Science Advances and Nature Communications. He also holds a BSc in Neuroscience from McGill University.
Zak was born and raised in Quebec City, Canada, after his family immigrated from Bosnia to start a new life. When not at his desk, he can be found riding his bike around Marin County, playing soccer, or watching a Montreal Canadiens hockey game.
