Ellen Tunoa

Ellen is a partner on the Technical Talent team, where she is building a network for the bio fund and providing talent with access into startups and the bio community. She partners with university labs and research institutes -- cultivating relationships across engineering, digital health, and bio disciplines. She is also helping the bio fund startups establish strong brands across the PhD and post-doctoral communities.
Ellen has over 14 years of experience working on staffing and recruiting programs at technology companies. She joined Andreessen Horowitz in 2009, where she initially built out the College Talent Program connecting top engineers and designers to startups, while helping the a16z portfolio jumpstart their brands across 25 campuses.
Prior to joining a16z in 2009, Ellen established key relationships and raised VMware’s visibility at leading engineering and MBA schools, gaining access to top students on campus. And during her tenure at Yahoo, Ellen started her career on the university relations team, collaborating closely on the intern program there, managing the onboarding process, managing their intern ambassador program, and executing summer events.
Ellen and her husband spend weekends chasing three rambunctious boys and trying new coffee shops and eateries. She loves to host themed parties at her east bay home for families and friends.
