More About Melissa
Melissa Liao is a senior manager on the a16z Perennial team focused on portfolio management and is responsible for managing the day-to-day rebalancing of liquid assets. Prior to joining a16z, Melissa was vice president at Jordan Park, a multi-family office managing approximately $18 billion of taxable and tax-exempt, global multi-asset portfolios. She managed liquid assets and ran a private credit fund totaling ~$1 billion in AUM. Prior to Jordan Park, she developed and launched smart beta ETFs at BlackRock, partnering with the Systematic Fixed Income team to redesign quantitative strategies for use in ETFs. She began her career in the fixed income ETF strategy team at BlackRock.
Melissa earned dual degrees, a BA in business administration (Haas) and a BS in statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a CFA Charterholder. In her free time, Melissa enjoys technical pastry baking and is a competitive West Coast Swing dancer.
