Raghu Raghuram is a managing partner at Andreessen Horowitz as well as a general partner on the Growth and Infrastructure investing teams.

Prior to joining a16z, he spent two decades at VMware in product and company leadership. He was instrumental in transforming VMware from a startup to a global cloud infrastructure platform company with a portfolio of several billion-dollar products, over $13B in revenue, and more than 300,000 customers in 60+ countries.

During his time at VMware, he held various leadership roles, including VP of Products, General Manager of the Software-Defined Datacenter business, and Chief Operating Officer. He then served as CEO of the company for three years—when he led the company’s spinout from Dell and ran it as an independent public company until its $69B acquisition by Broadcom.

Before VMware, he held product management roles at Netscape, AOL, and Bang Networks. He holds a Masters in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
